How soon will Antarctic Ice Sheet melt become a concern for humans?
Ben Galton-Fenzi is a scientist with the Australian Antarctic Division with a specialist focus on trying to quantify the risks and tipping points of Antarctic Ice Sheet behaviour and its impacts on global sea level. Ben received his PhD in 2009 as part of a joint program between CSIRO and the University of Tasmania in Physical Oceanography. Ben sits on several expert science panels including on a group with the World Climate Research Program (WCRP) that provides oversight into the next generation of climate modelling and observations needed by society and the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) Assessments. Ben has worked across several remote deep field locations in Antarctica and most recently led a team of researchers to the Totten Glacier, one of the largest potential contributors to global sea level rise.
