Looking at Value
Value is a central issue for all organisations, as it impacts on long-term sustainability, customer loyalty and positive word of mouth. This session will discuss my “value” journey of more than 25 years and what it means for managers wishing to improve such outcomes.
After a year as a Rotary exchange student in 1966, Geoff Soutar entered university, undertaking study at UWA and Cornell. He has worked at UWA, ECU and Curtin and retired in March 2020 as a Winthrop Professor and the Nancy Keegan and Don Voelte Distinguished Scholar in the Business School. He is a Fellow and Life Member of the Australian and New Zealand Academy of Management, was one of three academics appointed as an Inaugural Fellow of the Australian and New Zealand Marketing Academy, was a 2008 recipient of ANZMAC’s Distinguished Researcher Award and was awarded a Fellowship in the Academy of the Social Sciences of Australia in 2015. He was the first business academic appointed to an expert panel of the Australian Research Council, a position he held from 2001 until 2004 and was a member of the Australian Research Council’s Excellence in Research Australia (ERA) Economics and commerce (EC) Panel in 2012 and 2015. Geoff has published more than 200 papers in journals and books across a broad range of management and marketing areas and has supervised more than 70 doctoral graduates to completion.
